About Vavoom™ Bare Root Tree Rose
Rosa ‘WEKjutono’ — Vavoom™ PP 20,166
🧬 Breeder: Tom Carruth, United States
🌹 Introduced: 2007
🌹 Rose Type: Floribunda
🍊 Orange-juice orange. Seriously. Vavoom™ is one of those roses you can spot from clear across the garden.
Some roses whisper.
Vavoom™ absolutely does not.
This electrifying Floribunda from legendary American rose breeder Tom Carruth produces intensely saturated orange-juice orange flowers that hold their brilliant color right through the life of the bloom.
The flowers are full and ruffled, packing more than 35 petals into blooms approximately 3–4 inches across.
And the foliage makes that orange look even brighter.
New growth emerges a dramatic deep mahogany red, eventually maturing into glossy green leaves that create a rich backdrop for the glowing flowers.
Then add a moderate spicy fragrance, repeat flowering, and a naturally compact plant, and Vavoom™ becomes much more than a novelty color.
It's a little firecracker of a rose.

🍊 What Exactly Is “Orange-Juice Orange”?
There's orange.
And then there's Vavoom™ orange.
Weeks Roses actually describes the flower color as:
Orange-juice orange.
It's an almost glowing, saturated shade that doesn't immediately fade away as the flower ages.
That's important with orange roses. Some can open brilliantly and quickly wash into peach, buff, or pale apricot.
Vavoom™ was selected for color that holds all the way through the life of its long-lasting flowers.
Against the glossy green foliage and mahogany-colored new growth, the effect is spectacular.
You wanted orange?
You got orange.
🧬 Bred by Tom Carruth
Vavoom™ comes from the breeding program of celebrated American rose hybridizer Tom Carruth.
Its parentage is:
Julie Newmar × Top Notch
Carruth became famous for creating roses with unusual colors and strong garden performance, and Vavoom™ certainly shows his willingness to push color to the extreme.
Rather than creating another soft apricot or peach Floribunda, Vavoom™ delivers an unapologetically intense orange.
Even the name feels appropriate.
One look at it and—
Vavoom!
❤️🔥 The Foliage Makes the Flower
One of Vavoom's most underrated features may be its new growth.
Fresh foliage emerges deep mahogany red before transitioning to glossy green.
That dark red growth creates incredible contrast with the orange flowers.
You get:
Mahogany red new growth.
Glossy green mature foliage.
Blazing orange flowers.
All on one compact plant.
It's a fantastic combination for adding warm color to the garden even beyond the flowers themselves.
💛 Why Grace Rose Farm Loves It
This rose has absolutely no interest in being subtle.
And we love it for that.
Vavoom™ is the rose you plant when your garden needs a shot of pure color.
Those glowing orange flowers practically jump off the plant, especially against the glossy foliage and dark mahogany-red new growth.
But underneath all that drama is a surprisingly practical little Floribunda.
It's compact, rounded, repeat flowering, fragrant, and small enough to tuck into places where larger roses won't fit.
And at roughly two feet tall, it gives gardeners an opportunity to put some serious rose color right at the front of the border.
Weeks Roses jokingly warns that sunglasses may be required.
We wouldn't go that far.
But maybe keep a pair nearby.
Vavoom™ is orange turned all the way up.
🌿 Growing & Care Recommendations
Planting Site: Choose a sunny location with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun will encourage the strongest flowering and most compact growth.
Spacing: Allow approximately 2½ feet between plants to accommodate the rounded mature habit and provide good airflow.
Watering: Water deeply after planting and maintain consistent moisture while your bare-root rose develops its new root system.
Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring, removing dead, damaged, or weak growth and shaping the plant to maintain its naturally rounded habit.
Front-of-Border Planting: At only about 24–28 inches tall, Vavoom™ is especially useful toward the front of rose beds where taller varieties might overwhelm neighboring plants.
Mass Planting: Want maximum impact? Plant several together. Repeating that brilliant orange through the landscape turns an already bold rose into a serious focal point.
Color Pairing: Vavoom™ would look spectacular alongside creamy white, buttery yellow, deep burgundy, purple, or smoky mauve roses.
