About True Bloom Roses® True Gratitude™ Bare Root Rose Bush
Rosa ‘LIMkis’ — True Gratitude™ PP28,929
🧬 Breeder: Ping Lim / True Bloom Roses®
🌹 Rose Type: Shrub Rose / Compact Climber
💗 Rich magenta-pink flowers, an intoxicating spicy fragrance, and the versatility to grow as either a shrub or climber—there's a lot to be grateful for.
True Gratitude™ is one of those roses that lets you decide what you want it to be.
Grow it naturally and it develops into a substantial, upright flowering shrub.
Give those long canes a trellis, fence, or pillar and you can train it as a compact climbing rose reaching approximately 6 feet tall.
Either way, the star of the show is the flower.
True Gratitude™ produces masses of large, double blooms in saturated shades of deep pink to vibrant magenta, each carrying approximately 25–30 petals.
And then there's the fragrance.
Strong. Spicy. And unmistakably rosy.
This is not a rose you need to imagine is fragrant.
You'll know.

🌶️ Don't Forget to Smell This One
True Gratitude™ isn't just another pretty pink rose.
The fragrance is one of its defining characteristics.
Its richly colored flowers carry a strong spicy rose perfume that adds an entirely different dimension to the plant.
That's particularly exciting when True Gratitude™ is trained vertically.
Grow it beside a garden gate.
Train it onto a trellis near the patio.
Let it climb a pillar beside an entrance.
Suddenly those fragrant flowers aren't somewhere around your knees.
They're right at nose level.
Exactly where a fragrant rose should be.
🌹 Shrub or Climber? You Decide.
This may be our favorite characteristic of True Gratitude™.
It doesn't have to be grown one way.
Left to develop naturally and selectively pruned, True Gratitude™ can become a substantial 5–6-foot flowering shrub.
Or take those upright canes and train them onto a support.
Suddenly you've got a wonderfully manageable compact climber.
That flexibility makes True Gratitude™ especially useful in gardens where a traditional 10- to 15-foot climbing rose would simply be too large.
Small trellis?
Perfect.
Short fence?
Absolutely.
Garden pillar?
Even better.
🏆 An Award-Winning Climber
True Gratitude™ has already proven that its beauty isn't limited to catalog photographs.
It received the Best Climber award at the 2015 Biltmore International Rose Trials.
That's particularly fitting because its ability to transition between a substantial shrub and compact climber is one of the characteristics that makes this rose so useful in real gardens.
It's pretty.
But it performs, too.
💗 A Rose About Gratitude
There's something especially lovely about giving a rose named True Gratitude™.
Plant it to commemorate someone who helped you.
Give it as a thank-you.
Grow it in remembrance of a person who made a difference in your life.
Or simply plant it as a reminder to appreciate the good things growing around you.
Because sometimes flowers say something better than we can.
Thank you.
💛 Why Grace Rose Farm Loves It
This rose gives you plenty to be grateful for.
First, there's that color.
The flowers are a saturated deep magenta-pink that stands beautifully against the semi-glossy green foliage.
Then you lean closer and discover the strong spicy fragrance.
And finally you realize the plant itself is wonderfully versatile.
Grow it as a shrub.
Train it as a climber.
Cut the flowers for the house.
Plant it near a walkway so you can smell it every time you pass.
True Gratitude™ doesn't force you to design your garden around the rose.
It gives you options.
And that's something we're always grateful for.
🌿 Growing & Care Recommendations
Planting Site: Choose a sunny location with fertile, well-drained soil.
Spacing: Allow approximately 3–4 feet for the plant to develop its mature width and maintain good airflow.
Watering: Water deeply after planting and maintain consistent moisture while your bare-root rose establishes its root system.
Growing as a Shrub: Allow True Gratitude™ to develop naturally and selectively prune to maintain a large, upright flowering shrub.
Growing as a Climber: Preserve the longest canes and gently tie them to a trellis, fence, pillar, or wall support. Training the main canes diagonally or horizontally can encourage additional flowering laterals.
Pruning: Your pruning strategy should depend on how you want to grow it. A shrub can be shaped more substantially, while a plant being trained as a climber should retain its primary framework of long canes.
Fragrance Placement: Put this rose where people will pass close to it. Its strong spicy fragrance deserves to be experienced.
Cutting Garden: Don't be afraid to bring True Gratitude™ indoors. Those richly colored, fragrant flowers are beautiful in a vase.
