Large, dark-purple buds emerge in mid- to late spring and open into rounded clusters of deep, classic purple-lilac flowers with wonderful fragrance. After its spectacular spring display, the plant takes a short rest to produce fresh new growth.

Then comes the magic.

Bloomerang® Dark Purple begins flowering again in mid- to late summer and continues producing flowers into fall, often right up until frost.

We adore our historic French and heirloom lilacs, but Bloomerang® Dark Purple earns its place in the collection for an entirely different reason.

It extends lilac season.

And at just 4–6 feet tall and wide, it's much easier to fit into today's gardens than many traditional lilacs that eventually reach 10–15 feet.

We especially love it near patios, walkways and outdoor living spaces where you can enjoy that fragrance every time it reblooms.

And because the flowers form on new growth, you don't have to wait until next spring for another bouquet.

🌿 Growing & Care

Plant Bloomerang® Dark Purple in full sun and well-drained soil. At least six hours of direct sunlight encourages the strongest flowering and rebloom.

After the main spring bloom finishes, removing spent flower clusters can encourage more vigorous reblooming later in the season.

Unlike traditional lilacs that rely primarily on old wood for their annual spring show, Bloomerang® can also flower on the new growth it produces during the current season. That ability is what creates its summer and fall encore.

Avoid heavy pruning during the growing season. If shaping is necessary, prune immediately following the main spring flowering period.

One other tip: during periods of extreme summer heat, flowering may slow down. Don't worry. As temperatures moderate, the plant can resume flowering and continue its show into fall.
