Minuet belongs to the Preston lilac family, one of Canada's great contributions to ornamental horticulture.

Preston lilacs trace their beginnings to pioneering Canadian plant breeder Isabella Preston, who developed a new group of exceptionally cold-hardy, later-flowering lilacs. Their later bloom time makes them particularly valuable when planted alongside traditional Syringa vulgaris varieties.

🌿 Growing & Care

Plant Minuet in full sun and well-drained soil for the strongest flowering. Water consistently while your bare-root lilac establishes; once mature, it has good drought tolerance.

Minuet naturally develops a dense, upright shape and generally requires little pruning. If shaping is needed, prune immediately after flowering so the plant has time to develop flower buds for the following year.

Try planting Minuet alongside earlier-flowering lilacs to create a succession of bloom. With the right combination of varieties, you can enjoy fresh lilacs—and fresh-cut stems for the house—for weeks longer than with a single variety.
