🌳 A Lilac with an Interesting History
Despite its common name, Meyer Lilac was first documented by plant explorer Frank Meyer in a garden near Beijing, China, in 1909. The compact ‘Palibin’ selection became especially popular for its abundant flowers, tidy habit and excellent resistance to powdery mildew.
When grafted onto a single trunk, this naturally rounded lilac becomes a charming ornamental tree, bringing its fragrant flowers closer to eye level.
💛 Why Grace Rose Farm Loves It
We love the idea of a lilac bouquet growing on a little tree.
Dwarf Korean Lilac Tree adds beautiful height without overwhelming a smaller garden. Its lavender-pink flowers pair wonderfully with spring bulbs, peonies and early-flowering perennials, while the rounded canopy creates an elegant focal point near a pathway or garden entrance.
And that sweet lilac fragrance makes it even more special.
🌿 Planting & Care
Plant your bare root lilac tree in well-drained soil with at least six hours of direct sunlight for the best flowering. Spread the roots naturally, plant at the appropriate nursery depth and water thoroughly while establishing, keeping the graft union above the soil.
Dwarf Korean Lilac blooms on old wood, so prune immediately after flowering to preserve next spring's buds. Maintain the rounded canopy by lightly shaping it, and remove any shoots emerging from the trunk below the graft.
Stake the young tree as needed until its trunk and root system are well established.
