Juliet: A Prestigious Achievement in Floristry - Grace Rose Farm

Juliet: A Prestigious Achievement in Floristry

Article: Juliet: A Prestigious Achievement in Floristry

David Austin introduced a world-renowned rose variety out of a labor of love and an expensive, lengthy exploratory process. After 15 years of research and testing, the layered apricot stunner Juliet (Ausjameson) became what is now universally known as the “$3 million rose” because of the enormous cost of creating it during the intense testing period.

In 1999 at Albrighton, England, David Austin crossed female and male parent English Rose seedlings (unpatented and unnamed) to create the alluring variety. The intention behind this creation was to introduce a healthy shrub with high stem count, good vase life, and year-round production potential in standard greenhouse settings.

The resulting variety was introduced as one of three varieties in David Austin’s Wedding rose collection in 2004, and was later introduced with high praise to the market in 2006 at Chelsea Flower Show.

A Society of American Florists Red Ribbon Winner, Juliet has become the number one wedding rose in the U.S. with her rosette-shaped blooms, versatile apricot hue, and light tea fragrance. Her stems sit strongly as a centerpiece or play well with other supporting stems and filler flowers for a vase life of up to 10 days, a long delightful life.

Shades of peachy-pink bleed into 90 petals to form the sophisticated bloom heads of each stem, building a voluptuous deep cup so desired for weddings and galas because of her refined elegance. Her mesmerizing shape and color make a striking central focus in a design worthy of lavish events and celebrations.

Grace Rose Farm is pleased to offer this fan favorite English rose in luxurious bouquets to flower lovers and florists across the U.S.
