Lady HillingdonRegular price
Bred in 1910 and one of the later Tea roses, this Lady is considered to be hardier than most teas and can be grown in Zone 6 in a sheltered spot. Long, elegant buds are held in clusters of three to seven. Blooms are a frothy blend of caramel and butterscotch fading to cream at the edges, while retaining an apricot heart. New growth is a deep mahogany which matures to green. All of these tones and shades make the most pleasing combination in the garden and in the vase. This country lady always preferred the Society Life of London. She is attributed with the following quote about her husband and her bedroom.
“As it is, I now endure but two calls a week and when I hear his steps outside my door I lie down on my bed, close my eyes, and think of England.” Pretty racy for 1912.
Bloom: Large, semi double
Color: Apricot, peach, butterscotch, caramel, cream
